5 Steps to choosing quality child care:

Begin your search for child care well in advance. Whether you are considering a child care center or in-home care, starting early provides you with ample time to find the best option for your child.

Contact CCR&R by calling (559) 675-8469 or 1 (800) 505-0404 to speak with a Referral Counselor. Our counselors can guide you through available child care options that suit your specific needs. Additionally, explore our resources for parents to aid your decision-making process.

Schedule visits to the child care facilities or homes you are considering. Use our Choosing Quality Child Care Brochure, available in English and Spanish, to help you assess each option thoroughly. Don’t hesitate to ask questions during your visits to ensure the environment aligns with your expectations.

Reflect on your visits and observations. Choose the child care setting that feels right for your child and family. Consider factors such as the caregiver’s qualifications, the environment, and the overall atmosphere.

Ways to Stay Involved:

  • Regular Parent-Caregiver Meetings: Schedule meetings to discuss your child’s progress and address any concerns.
  • Volunteer Your Time: Participate in activities such as clean-up days or repairing toys.
  • Celebrate Special Occasions: Be present for your child’s birthday celebrations and other significant events.
  • Visit and Read Aloud: Spend time at the child care facility, reading to children and engaging in activities.
  • Join Events: Participate in events like field trips, Career Day, Black History Month, and other holidays.
